Sweden has entered into an agreement with Germany’s Dynamit Nobel Defence to acquire the SKORPION2 vehicle-mounted mine-laying system. This advanced system is designed to rapidly deploy anti-tank mines, creating defensive barriers against enemy armored vehicles. SKORPION2 is highly mobile and can be mounted on various platforms including vehicles, trailers, and unmanned systems. It allows armed forces to lay extensive minefields in a very short time, often within minutes, making it valuable in fast-changing battlefield conditions. The system uses next-generation AT2+ mines, which feature programmable settings, electronic control systems, and strong penetration capability against armored targets. These mines are designed to be effective across wide areas and resistant to clearance efforts. The system also enhances interoperability among NATO and EU forces, as similar technologies are being adopted by allied nations such as Latvia and Denmark.
