Terra Drone Corporation has secured a 115.4 million yen ($735,000) contract from Japan’s Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency to manufacture 300 modular unmanned aerial vehicles for military training applications.
Under the agreement, deliveries of the domestically produced UAVs are scheduled for completion by September 30, 2026. The award follows Terra Drone’s formal expansion into the defense industry earlier this year.
The company stated that Japan’s defense procurement sector is known for its rigorous standards and substantial entry barriers, making the contract a significant milestone in demonstrating its ability to meet defense-sector expectations.
Tokyo has also committed roughly 277.3 billion yen ($1.7 billion) during the current fiscal year toward enhancing unmanned defense capabilities, according to Terra Drone.
Alongside its domestic defense ambitions, the company is accelerating efforts to grow its global footprint. In April, Terra Drone reportedly supported expanded manufacturing of the Terra A-series interceptor drones produced in Ukraine by Amazing Drones.
The strategy is intended to merge Ukraine’s fast-paced drone innovation and cost-efficient production with outside investment and industrial scaling expertise.
Terra Drone is additionally preparing to enter the US defense market through the establishment of a local subsidiary. NATO nations have meanwhile been identified as priority customers due to increasing demand for interoperable, cost-effective unmanned systems compatible with alliance procurement frameworks. The company is also exploring growth opportunities in Asia and the Middle East.
