Latvia has commenced the transfer of tracked Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (CVR-T) platforms to Ukraine as part of its ongoing military support initiatives.
According to Defence Minister Andris Spruds, the new deliveries are intended to enhance Ukraine’s reconnaissance, maneuverability, and battalion-level operational effectiveness.
The CVR-T series, originally developed in the UK, serves scouting, patrol, and light engagement roles. Latvia is repurposing part of its existing inventory for Ukraine while continuing to modernize its own armed forces.
Continuing Assistance
Latvia has been actively supporting Ukraine with a range of military aid. In November 2025, it fulfilled the first half of its commitment by delivering 21 Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers, equipped with heavy machine guns, spare parts, and combat logistics kits.
Latvia has also contributed to unmanned aerial capabilities, dispatching the first 500 of 12,000 combat drones in March 2025 under a joint coalition with the UK.
Additional aid includes helicopters, howitzers, anti-tank weapons, ammunition, radar systems, and protective equipment, coordinated through the Ramstein-format defense contact group to strengthen Ukraine’s overall operational readiness.
