Belgium and Luxembourg have placed orders for 269 armored vehicles from KNDS France under the multinational CaMo armored vehicle program.
Launched by France and Belgium, CaMo aims to deliver interoperable land systems across partner forces while supporting France’s SCORPION program, which focuses on modernizing ground combat platforms and tactical networks.
Belgian Acquisitions
Belgium’s package includes 92 Griffon APCs and 123 Serval lightweight armored vehicles, procured through France’s defense acquisition authority acting for Brussels.
By adopting SCORPION-compliant platforms, Belgium will gain full access to the program’s architecture, improving its ability to operate seamlessly alongside NATO partners, according to KNDS.
Luxembourg’s Contribution
Luxembourg’s order—processed via Belgium’s CaMo framework and supported by NATO planning mechanisms—covers 16 Griffons and 38 Jaguar reconnaissance vehicles.
The platforms will equip the planned Guide-Chasseurs Battalion, a joint reconnaissance formation between Belgium and Luxembourg scheduled to become operational by the end of the decade.
Industrial Footprint
Production of the Griffon and Jaguar will involve Arquus and Thales, while Texelis will support Serval manufacturing.
Assembly will largely take place in Belgium at MOL CY’s Staden plant, with FN Herstal supplying remote weapon stations. Serval production will see a higher share of assembly work localized in Belgium. The CaMo contracts also include logistics and maintenance packages.
