Sweden and Denmark said on Tuesday they will finance the acquisition of $290 million worth of air defense systems for Ukraine, highlighting continued Nordic support as Kyiv seeks to counter Russian aerial attacks.

The two governments will jointly fund the purchase of the TRIDON Mk2 mobile air defense system, with Sweden providing 2.1 billion kronor and Denmark covering the balance, defense ministers from both countries announced at a press briefing.

The decision follows ongoing strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure. According to an AFP review, Russia fired fewer missiles and drones in January than in December, but the attacks nonetheless severely disrupted energy facilities across the country.

The resulting shortages of power, heating, and water are among the most serious since the war began nearly four years ago, raising concerns over worsening humanitarian conditions.
