The US Marine Corps has awarded BAE Systems a $195 million contract for the production of 30 additional Amphibious Combat Vehicles, reinforcing the service’s modernization of its amphibious assault capabilities.

The new contract increases the number of ACV-30 vehicles ordered under the current program to more than 150 units. Featuring a 30mm cannon turret, the ACV-30 is designed to deliver increased firepower and engagement range while operating across coastal and inland combat environments.

Vehicle manufacturing will be performed in Pennsylvania and South Carolina, with Kongsberg responsible for integrating the turret systems.

The ACV platform is central to the Marine Corps’ strategy to replace aging amphibious assets with vehicles offering improved survivability, maneuverability, and operational flexibility. BAE Systems is delivering multiple configurations of the vehicle, including personnel transport and command variants, while supporting recovery and maintenance capabilities through the ACV Recovery program.

US amphibious vehicle modernization has progressed steadily over the past several years. In 2023, BAE secured funding to continue early production as the Marine Corps prepared the platform for frontline deployment. By 2024, the service began introducing ACVs into Marine Expeditionary Units, marking a major step in replacing vehicles that had been in service for decades.
