Washington has authorized a $163.4-million contract for Textron Systems to supply 65 Commando Select armored vehicles to Ukraine, strengthening the country’s protected mobility on the battlefield.

The award, issued under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative via the Foreign Military Sales process, is a three-year firm fixed-price contract managed by the US Army Contracting Command at Detroit Arsenal. The scope includes vehicle manufacturing, delivery, and one year of spare parts.

The Commando Select vehicle, a variant of Textron’s Mobile Strike Force Vehicle, is designed for high-threat and austere operating environments, providing enhanced protection and maneuverability compared with many armored personnel carriers.

Sustained military support for Ukraine continues to be a key pillar of US defense and foreign policy.

In late 2024, the US announced nearly $6 billion in military and budgetary assistance for Ukraine, encompassing artillery munitions, HIMARS ammunition, anti-armor weapons, air-defense interceptors, and drones.

This was followed in December 2025 by an $800-million security assistance package, with around half of the funding slated for delivery in 2026–2027 through the USAI framework.

Most recently, in January 2025, Washington revealed an additional $500-million military aid package, including missiles to bolster Ukrainian air defenses and equipment to support the operation of F-16 fighter aircraft.
