Leonardo UK has secured a 27-million-pound ($36-million) contract from the UK’s defense procurement agency to deliver critical consumable aircraft parts for the country’s military aviation fleets.

The three-year deal contains four additional one-year extension options, potentially increasing its overall value to 70 million pounds ($93 million). The contract covers a broad range of consumable items, including washers, blind rivets, cable ties, and face masks, which are essential for maintaining aircraft serviceability.

Supported platforms include Typhoon fighter aircraft, Apache and Chinook rotorcraft, and A400M and C-17 airlifters, with some of these assets currently engaged in operational deployments across the Middle East. The program is projected to support approximately 75 jobs across key defense industry locations in Edinburgh, Coningsby, and Bristol.

As part of the agreement, Leonardo will implement a hybrid inventory management system, proactively managing high-usage consumables while supplying lower-demand items when required. Its duties will also encompass stock acquisition, demand analysis, maintenance coordination, and lifecycle management to address obsolescence challenges.

The centralized depot-based supply model is designed to enhance efficiency and flexibility by simplifying the management of consumable spares, enabling faster support and improved operational readiness for the UK’s military aircraft fleet.
