A new partnership between Rheinmetall and Hellenic Vehicles Industries (ELVO) will see military trucks assembled in Greece for the Hellenic Armed Forces.
The memorandum of understanding outlines cooperation on the manufacturing and integration of logistics vehicles and specialized military systems to support Greece’s defense modernization efforts.
Assembly work will take place at ELVO’s plant in Thessaloniki, where the companies intend to expand production capabilities for truck variants designed for land, naval, and air force operations.
The collaboration also covers the installation of advanced superstructures, including air defense systems integrated onto vehicle platforms.
Rheinmetall offers a range of tactical and logistics vehicles from 4×4 to 10×10 configurations built for demanding off-road missions. By combining this expertise with ELVO’s domestic manufacturing facilities, Greece aims to strengthen local industrial capacity and reduce reliance on imported defense equipment.
Officials also expect the initiative to generate highly skilled jobs and stimulate the broader defense supply network in northern Greece.
The Greek agreement follows several strategic partnerships launched by Rheinmetall in 2026 as the company seeks to expand production and deepen regional industrial cooperation.
In March, Rheinmetall and Indra formed an alliance to compete for a major Spanish Army truck contract potentially involving up to 3,000 military vehicles.
That same month, Rheinmetall teamed with Boeing Defence Australia to promote the MQ-28 Ghost Bat unmanned aircraft for Germany.
Earlier this year, Rheinmetall Expal Munitions and EM&E Group jointly submitted a proposal to Spain’s Ministry of Defence for the SILAM high-mobility rocket launcher program.
