The US State Department has authorized a possible $70.5-million foreign military sale to Jordan, focused on aircraft sustainment and support services. The package includes maintenance, equipment, and logistical support for the country’s F-16 and F-5 fighter fleets and C-130 transport aircraft, building upon a previous $49.1-million agreement. The contract will be led by S&K Aerospace.

Approved under emergency provisions, the sale will proceed without Congressional review due to escalating security concerns in the region, including recent Iranian drone and missile attacks on facilities linked to US operations in Jordan. The initiative is designed to ensure continued aircraft readiness for defense, patrol, and emergency missions, while also supporting the strategic priorities of US Central Command.

This approval follows additional US defense clearances in the region, including a large-scale package for the United Arab Emirates involving missile defense systems and a THAAD radar, as well as LTAMDS radar systems for Kuwait, highlighting Washington’s broader effort to strengthen regional security partnerships.
