The 100th Boxer infantry vehicle manufactured entirely in the UK has rolled off the production line and been delivered to the UK Ministry of Defence, highlighting continued progress in the British Army’s fleet modernization efforts. The milestone follows the acceptance of the first Boxer vehicle in August 2025, with a total of 623 units being procured as part of a £5-billion ($6.1-billion) defense investment that also covers 148 Challenger 3 tanks scheduled to enter operational service by 2030.
The Boxer acquisition is managed through cooperation between OCCAR, ARTEC, and the National Armaments Director Group, while manufacturing responsibilities are shared by Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) in Telford and KNDS UK in Stockport.
The versatile 8×8 Boxer armored vehicle will equip the British Army’s Strike Brigades, providing rapid mobility for troops and mission systems across diverse operational environments. Capable of carrying 11 personnel, the platform measures roughly 8 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 2 meters in height. It can achieve a maximum speed of 103 km/h (64 mph) and operate over distances of up to 1,050 kilometers (652 miles) before requiring refueling.
