Hermeus is moving closer to operationalizing what it describes as the world’s fastest unmanned aircraft, following a $350 million funding round aimed at accelerating development and scaling flight test operations.
Valued at $1 billion with support from its partners, the California-based firm is expanding its efforts by developing a three-aircraft fleet roughly the size of an F-16. This multi-platform strategy enables concurrent testing and broader data collection, rather than depending on a single demonstrator.
Its latest testbed, Quarterhorse Mk 2.1, has already achieved its first successful flight, with supersonic capability now within reach as the program progresses.
