Cubic Defence UK has been awarded a two-year contract by the UK Ministry of Defence to supply the Instrumented Live Training Area Weapons Effects System (ILT-A).
The ILT-A platform is designed to deliver immersive, data-rich training scenarios that enhance troop readiness and combat performance.
This new agreement builds upon Cubic’s established partnership with the UK and replaces the earlier Area Weapons Effects Simulation program.
It includes provisions for both individual and unit-level training across diverse environments and operational domains.
System Highlights:
ILT-A fuses laser and area-effect tech with live-fire ranges and drone integration, creating a digitally enabled training space to replicate complex multi-domain threats.
Collected data supports comprehensive after-action reviews.
The system is compatible with Cubic’s SCOPIC2 platform, which blends virtual elements into live training to improve realism, tactical coordination, and interoperability with allied forces.
SCOPIC2 also adds simulated air and artillery strikes, reconnaissance, and target-tracking to training exercises.
Defense Momentum:
The UK is accelerating its defense modernization efforts through new programs and strategic collaborations.
Recent developments include the launch of a modernization initiative at Faslane Naval Base to reinforce the national nuclear deterrent.
In June, GM Defense and NP Aerospace offered their Infantry Squad Vehicle for the British Army’s Light Mobility Vehicle program.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Keir Starmer proposed raising defense spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027—marking the largest increase since the Cold War.
