Haiti has taken delivery of its first batch of seven Senator Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, part of a 17-unit acquisition program aimed at strengthening the country’s ground forces.

The newly arrived platforms will support counter-gang operations and enhance troop protection in high-threat zones. Their mission profile includes patrolling, convoy escort, and humanitarian relief, providing security against small arms fire, improvised explosives, and ambushes.

Developed by Canadian manufacturer Roshel, the Senator MRAP is built on the Ford F-550 chassis and incorporates NATO-standard armor rated to resist rifle fire, artillery fragments, and directional mines. The 4×4 design’s V-shaped hull helps deflect blast energy from ground-based explosions, improving survivability.

Measuring 6 meters (20 feet) in length, the vehicle carries up to 10 personnel and offers a payload capacity of 2 tons (4,409 pounds). Powered by a 330-horsepower 6.7-liter V8 diesel engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the Senator reaches speeds of up to 120 km/h (75 mph) and delivers a range of approximately 800 km (497 miles).
