HawkEye 360 has secured $36 million in new multi-year international contracts as allied governments expand their use of radio-frequency (RF) intelligence to monitor electronic activity, identify potential threats and strengthen defence and intelligence capabilities.
The contracts cover customers across more than 10 allied and partner nations in the Indo-Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the Americas. The company has not disclosed the identities of the customers or the individual contract values.
HawkEye 360 operates a satellite-based RF intelligence network that detects and locates electromagnetic emissions from sources such as communications equipment. The collected signals are processed into intelligence data that helps defence and intelligence agencies assess activity across areas of interest.
According to the company, the latest awards will support situational awareness, threat detection and operational decision-making for international customers.
Expanding Signals Intelligence Capabilities
Signals intelligence (SIGINT) involves collecting and analysing electronic signals to gather information about communications, military activity and potential threats. RF intelligence can help identify transmitter locations, map patterns of electronic activity and monitor areas where conventional surveillance and tracking systems may provide limited visibility.
Demand for these capabilities is increasing as defence organisations seek improved awareness of the electromagnetic environment and more effective tools for intelligence gathering and mission planning.
In September, the US Army awarded contracts worth nearly $196 million to Heaviside Industries and Research Innovations to advance electromagnetic spectrum sensing and signals intelligence capabilities.
The awards included a $99 million contract for Heaviside’s MOTH spectrum analyser and a $96.9 million contract for Research Innovations’ Dragonfly sensors, which are integrated aboard the Menet Aero Intrepid 1200 unmanned aircraft. These systems are intended to strengthen the collection and analysis of electronic signals for military applications.
HawkEye 360 also received a contract in August under the National Reconnaissance Office’s Commercial Radio Frequency Capability Augmentation programme. The award transitions the company’s work from research and testing towards an operational contract to supply commercial RF intelligence data for US national security missions.
The latest international contracts reinforce HawkEye 360’s position in the commercial RF intelligence market as governments increasingly invest in satellite-enabled surveillance, electronic intelligence and advanced signals analysis. The expansion of these capabilities is expected to support military situational awareness and intelligence operations across multiple regions.
