Alta Ares, a French-Ukrainian defense technology company focused on AI-driven air defense systems, has secured €50 million ($57 million) in funding to boost manufacturing, accelerate innovation, and support international growth initiatives.

The newly raised capital will fund recruitment efforts, expand production facilities in France and Ukraine, and facilitate the opening of additional offices in key markets across Asia and the Middle East.

The company’s air defense solutions leverage artificial intelligence alongside automated target detection, classification, and interception capabilities to counter large-scale attacks involving drones, cruise missiles, and other airborne weapons.

Alta Ares highlighted the growing need for advanced air defense technologies as armed forces adapt to a threat landscape increasingly dominated by unmanned systems and precision-strike weapons. The company emphasized that NATO allies are regularly preparing for coordinated attacks featuring hundreds of drones and multiple missile types, creating demand for next-generation systems built around autonomy, flexibility, and interoperability.

Its product portfolio includes the X-Lock interceptor, designed to defeat short-range threats such as Shahed-class attack drones at ranges of up to 15 kilometers. Complementing it is the Black Bird interceptor, which can engage cruise missiles, glide bombs, and other high-speed aerial targets at distances of up to 30 kilometers.

The interceptor platforms are already operational in three conflict zones, allowing Alta Ares to gather real-world combat data that supports rapid capability upgrades and shorter development timelines.
