RTX has announced a $26.5-million investment to expand the Largo, Florida, operations of Collins Aerospace, aiming to increase production of advanced aviation radar and defense communication systems.
The project will add manufacturing capacity and create over 100 jobs spanning factory operations and engineering roles, helping meet growing demand for military coordination and airspace monitoring technologies.
According to RTX, the expanded production area is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2026.
The upgraded facility will contribute to the Federal Aviation Administration’s Radar System Replacement Program by manufacturing systems such as the Condor Mk3 cooperative surveillance radar and the ASR-XM non-cooperative radar.
Collins Aerospace’s Largo site already supports a broad range of activities involving radar technologies, secure communications, satellite hardware, and testing services for defense and commercial sectors.
Broader Manufacturing Expansion
RTX has been steadily increasing investments across its defense manufacturing network in response to rising global demand for missiles, sensors, and integrated air defense systems.
In April, Pratt & Whitney unveiled a $100-million expansion in Poland focused on boosting production for programs including the geared turbofan engine, the F135 engine powering the F-35 Lightning II, and the F100 engines used in the F-15 Eagle and F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft.
The announcement came shortly after the March expansion of RTX’s Redstone Missile Integration Facility in Alabama, which raised integration and delivery capacity by over 50 percent.
Earlier in February, Pratt & Whitney also committed $200 million to expand its Georgia production site by adding a seventh isothermal forging press for manufacturing compressor and turbine disks.
