The European Union has approved a new €100 million assistance package for the Lebanese Armed Forces as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen state institutions and maintain stability in Lebanon. The funding arrives during a period of fragile ceasefire conditions and continued security concerns along the Israel-Lebanon border. EU officials view support for the Lebanese military as an important mechanism for enhancing national security, reinforcing government authority, and improving the country’s ability to manage internal and external challenges. This latest package increases total EU military assistance to Lebanon to approximately €182 million in recent years.
