The HII has secured a five-year, $418 million contract from the Naval Sea Systems Command to support the maintenance and repair of elevator and cargo handling systems installed on US Navy aircraft carriers and amphibious vessels.
As part of the contract, HII’s Mission Technologies division will provide engineering expertise, maintenance support, and technical repair services for shipboard elevator systems and associated equipment. The agreement also includes training programs for naval personnel and the provision of rapid-response maintenance teams to address operational requirements.
The work will be performed at facilities throughout the continental United States and at overseas naval bases supporting forward-deployed forces. The program further strengthens HII’s long-standing role in sustaining critical shipboard systems and maintaining operational readiness across the US Navy fleet.
The award adds to a growing portfolio of recent HII contracts involving autonomous naval platforms, undersea warfare technologies, and advanced defense capabilities.
Earlier this month, HII and Bayou Metal Supply & Manufacturing launched a dedicated production facility in Louisiana to support serial manufacturing of the ROMULUS unmanned surface vessel. The facility will fabricate major structural components for the AI-enabled platform, with final integration and assembly taking place at Breaux Brothers Enterprises.
In another recent development, the US Navy selected HII in April to develop a torpedo tube launch and recovery capability that will enable submarines to deploy and retrieve REMUS autonomous underwater vehicles through existing torpedo tube systems.
Additionally, HII was named earlier this year as one of 12 participants in the Advanced Technology Support Program V, a 10-year, $25.4 billion multiple-award contract managed by the Defense Microelectronics Activity. The program is designed to deliver engineering services, prototype development, microelectronics expertise, and technology modernization support across the US Department of Defense and other federal organizations.
