Perennial Autonomy has secured a US military contract worth up to $500 million to expand AI-enabled counter-drone operations for deployed forces and critical infrastructure protection. The agreement includes the delivery of systems such as the Merops interceptor, Bumblebee quadcopter, and Hornet strike drone, all designed to detect, track, and engage aerial threats using AI, computer vision, and jam-resistant communications. The Pentagon is increasingly investing in artificial intelligence for counter-uncrewed aerial system operations to improve response times and reduce false target identification. The flexible contract structure allows the military to adapt procurement levels based on evolving operational requirements over the next three years.
