The United States has approved military helicopter sales and upgrade packages worth more than $4 billion for South Korea as Seoul continues to modernize its armed forces against North Korean threats. The package includes 24 MH-60R “Romeo” Seahawk helicopters for anti-submarine and maritime strike operations, along with upgrades for South Korea’s Apache attack helicopter fleet. South Korean President Lee Jae Myung previously committed to increasing defense purchases from the US as part of broader alliance cooperation. Washington said the agreements would enhance regional security while supporting long-term defense ties between the two countries.
