Lockheed Martin subsidiary Sikorsky Aircraft has been awarded a $65 million contract for advance procurement tied to 10 new UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters for the US Army. The effort includes sourcing materials and services to streamline production timelines and reduce potential delays ahead of full-scale manufacturing.

Production will be carried out at the company’s Stratford, Connecticut facility, with delivery expected by December 2026, as outlined by the US Department of Defense. The Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal will oversee execution of the contract.

This development follows the Army’s market research into extending the UH-60M fleet’s lifespan beyond 2050 through a comprehensive midlife modernization program. The plan envisions upgrading 12 to 24 helicopters annually, alongside additional HH-60M medical evacuation variants. The modernization process will include full teardown of airframes to enable detailed inspections and necessary repairs or replacements. To date, the Black Hawk program has contributed over 2,000 helicopters to the Army’s inventory.
