Global Military Products has secured a $640 million US Army contract to deliver 155mm High Explosive ammunition under the Special Ammunition and Weapons Systems (SAWS) program. The firm-fixed-price agreement, running through July 10, 2027, represents one of the Army’s most significant ammunition purchases this year.

SAWS is designed to acquire non-standard weapons and ammunition that have not undergone complete Army testing or classification. These include legacy systems still operated by partner and allied militaries, particularly from Soviet-era or Eastern Bloc inventories. The program enables continued support for allies reliant on older systems while upholding safety and interoperability.

The contract comes amid surging demand for artillery rounds. Army officials confirmed that monthly production has already doubled to 40,000 shells compared to 2022, with a target of 100,000 shells per month by mid-2026.

Additionally, in August, the Army awarded MSM Group North America a contract to construct the Future Artillery Complex. This facility is part of a wider Department of Defense effort to modernize production capacity, expand 155mm shell output, and restore national stockpiles.
