The US Army has selected ArmorSource for a $17.6 million procurement contract covering the delivery of 25,000 ACH Gen II ballistic helmets, marking another step in modernizing soldier protective equipment. The contract calls for deliveries through 2028, with the new helmets offering a combination of reduced weight, improved comfort, and enhanced battlefield survivability.

Designed as an upgrade to the legacy Advanced Combat Helmet, the ACH Gen II weighs about 22 percent less while providing robust protection against fragmentation and 9mm ballistic threats. ArmorSource states that the helmet can also defend against high-speed fragments as well as handgun and rifle ammunition, including .223 Remington-class projectiles traveling at velocities of up to 650 m/s. Built with a highly durable shell, the system is engineered to resist blunt impacts and extreme compression from multiple directions. With an areal density below 6.9 kg/m² and a total weight ranging from 1.01 to 1.13 kg, the ACH Gen II delivers significantly lower load burden compared to the older ACH, which weighs between 1.36 and 1.72 kg.
