The US Army has added $14.2 million to Barrett Firearms’ MK22 program, bringing the contract to over $64 million. The MK22 (Barrett Multi-Role Adaptive Design) is the Army’s new modular sniper rifle that can be rapidly reconfigured between calibers by swapping barrels and bolts. The latest contract change covers additional 7.62mm and .338 conversion kits so units can adapt rifles to mission demands.

The modification was awarded via Army Contracting Command — New Jersey, with work and funding handled per order. Deliveries will continue through March 2026. Barrett — best known for the .50-cal M82 — originally won the MK22 award in 2021 and was recently tapped, with MARS Inc., to produce a next-generation precision grenade launcher.
