Japan has teamed up with India to create advanced unmanned aerial systems designed to operate independently and respond autonomously even when disconnected from external networks.
The collaboration will be led by Digital Media Professionals of Tokyo, which is supplying its Di1 edge AI chip for the effort. The single-silicon solution integrates computing, memory, and AI processing functions into a compact and energy-efficient onboard system.
Digital Media Professionals stated that the Di1 can process inputs from up to four cameras simultaneously, enabling drones to maintain complete 360-degree environmental awareness while carrying out autonomous operations.
