Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky has entered into a strategic partnership with Safran Helicopter Engines to evaluate future collaboration opportunities for advanced vertical lift programmes. The initiative is designed to accelerate aircraft development, shorten production timelines, and enhance the delivery of next-generation aerospace solutions for defence and commercial operators globally.
The collaboration will explore innovations in power and propulsion systems supporting Sikorsky’s current and future rotorcraft platforms, along with its expanding portfolio of unmanned aerial systems. The companies noted that the partnership strengthens a relationship of more than four decades, during which Safran has supplied over 1,230 engines for the S-76 medium utility helicopter programme, contributing to approximately 10 million cumulative flight hours.
