Navantia has entered a critical testing phase for the air-independent propulsion system intended for Spain’s S-80 submarine fleet. The innovative technology generates electrical power through fuel-cell systems, enabling submarines to remain submerged for significantly longer periods without surfacing. The trials are focused on validating reliability, efficiency, and operational performance before integration into future vessels. Successful implementation will provide the Spanish Navy with improved stealth, endurance, and mission flexibility.
