Vehicles Research and Development Establishment has unveiled its next-generation Advanced Armoured Platforms—both tracked and wheeled—at its facility in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, on April 25, 2026. The launch was led by Samir V Kamat, Chairman of Defence Research and Development Organisation and Secretary, Department of Defence (R&D). These platforms are designed to meet the modern combat needs of the Indian Armed Forces.

Each platform is fitted with a fully indigenous 30 mm crewless turret, delivering enhanced firepower, mobility, and protection. Equipped with powerful engines and automatic transmission, they achieve high speed, excellent maneuverability, and strong performance across difficult terrains. The vehicles feature STANAG Level 4 and 5 protection, with modular solutions for blast and ballistic threats. Their amphibious capability, supported by hydrojet systems, allows effective operations across water obstacles.

The turret system includes a 7.62 mm PKT gun and supports the launch of anti-tank guided missiles, making the platform highly versatile for multiple combat roles. The design is modular, enabling adaptation for varied operational requirements. Indigenous content currently stands at 65%, with a roadmap to increase it to 90%.

Production has been undertaken by Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Bharat Forge Limited, with contributions from numerous MSMEs, further strengthening India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem. The event saw participation from senior DRDO leadership, industry executives, and scientists from key DRDO labs, including ARDE, DMRL, HEMRL, CVRDE, and R&DE (Engineers).
