A UN peacekeeping base in Am Dafock, located near the Sudan–Central African Republic border, was attacked by armed groups linked to Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces and former Seleka fighters. The raid resulted in injuries to Zambian peacekeepers and multiple reported casualties, highlighting the intensity of the assault. The United Nations strongly condemned the attack, warning that violence against peacekeepers could be classified as war crimes under international law. The region has long been unstable due to cross-border movement of armed groups and ongoing conflict in neighboring Sudan. Reports also suggested possible retaliatory air operations following the attack, further escalating tensions in the area. Am Dafock remains a highly sensitive strategic zone due to its location along a volatile border.
