Rheinmetall has partnered with Nooteboom Trailers BV to co-develop and market military Heavy Equipment Trailer (HET) systems, targeting the rising need for heavy transport solutions in Europe.

The agreement includes joint development, production, and commercialization of HET platforms, with manufacturing expected to take place in Romania. These systems will integrate Rheinmetall’s MAN Military Vehicles tractor units with Nooteboom’s advanced trailer technologies to support the movement of heavy military equipment.

The companies emphasized their complementary roles, with Nooteboom offering extensive experience in heavy trailer design, including systems capable of handling payloads up to 200 tonnes. Its product lineup includes solutions such as MANOOVR MPL, EURO-PX hydraulic axle loaders, Super Wing transporters, Teletrailer flatbeds, SMART lightweight trailers, and Ballasttrailers.

Rheinmetall contributes its expertise in military vehicle manufacturing, production scale, and global defense market access, enabling the delivery of integrated and comprehensive transport systems. Its MAN Military Vehicles range includes HX high-mobility trucks and TG-MIL platforms, designed for both heavy transport and general logistics roles.

The HX series supports the transport of heavy armored and tracked vehicles, while TG-MIL trucks are suited for routine logistics tasks in lower-risk environments.

The partnership is intended to respond to increasing demand driven by NATO programs and the growing deployment of heavy platforms such as tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled howitzers, and armored engineering vehicles, helping build a more resilient and competitive European defense industry.
