Russia announced it had captured two more villages in southern Ukraine, as its military slowly pushes forward against Ukrainian forces who are outnumbered. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense on Telegram, Rivnopillia and Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region are now under Russian control. Although the Zaporizhzhia front is quieter than the eastern front, Russian troops—better equipped and larger in number—are advancing in both regions. Heavy fighting continues in the east around the key logistical hub of Pokrovsk, where Russian forces have infiltrated in recent weeks, weakening Ukrainian defenses. Peace negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow remain at an impasse, and a planned Budapest summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin did not take place.
