The Netherlands has become a partner in the U.S. Air Force’s Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) initiative — a cutting-edge drone program designed to work in tandem with F-35 fighter jets. The agreement, formalized in Washington by State Secretary for Defense Gijs Tuinman before the NL-US Defense Industry Days, reinforces bilateral defense collaboration and marks a step into next-generation air warfare.
Through participation in the CCA program, the Netherlands aims to accelerate innovation in unmanned combat systems that coordinate seamlessly with piloted aircraft. The initiative positions the nation among the early contributors shaping AI-enabled mission networks and future air combat concepts within NATO and allied frameworks.
