Naver has launched a specialized defence-focused AI unit aimed at developing military applications for its artificial intelligence platforms and cloud services. The move comes as sovereign AI gains strategic significance, with nations seeking secure, homegrown solutions to manage critical data and strengthen technological independence. Headed by Naver Cloud chief executive Kim Yu-won, the task force will explore how the company’s advanced AI models and cloud technologies can be deployed across defence and military environments.
