Archer Aviation has entered into a new agreement with Karem Aircraft to integrate Karem’s military-grade rotor and tiltrotor technologies into Archer’s upcoming autonomous, hybrid-propulsion VTOL aircraft. The collaboration grants Archer access to Karem’s proven tiltrotor architecture, which has undergone earlier testing and evaluation by the US Army. Archer plans to merge this expertise with patented systems recently acquired from Overair and Lilium. Together, these technologies are expected to support an aircraft platform capable of higher speed, extended range, improved payload capacity, and reduced heat and acoustic signatures — key requirements for demanding and complex flight operations. Archer already offers the Midnight electric VTOL, supplied to the US Air Force, while Karem’s rotorcraft innovations have been employed in tactical platforms such as the MQ-1 Predator and A160 Hummingbird drones. This new partnership aligns with Archer’s ongoing work with Anduril Industries on an advanced unmanned hybrid VTOL project for the US military. The initiative, confirmed by CEO Adam Goldstein but not publicly detailed, is expected to support a future US Department of Defense program. In November, Archer also secured a contract to provide its electric powertrain for Anduril and UAE-based EDGE Group’s joint venture developing the Omen unmanned aerial system. The UAE is expected to purchase around 50 Omen units once production begins.
