U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) has completed its first operational certification of a mobile Counter-small Unmanned Aerial System (C-sUAS) fly-away kit after a rigorous, week-long assessment at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota. An 11-person technical and operations team successfully tested the system against more than 100 simulated drone targets, validating its full spectrum of detection, tracking, and engagement functions.
Conducted with the support of the 5th Bomb Wing, the evaluation marks a major milestone in USNORTHCOM’s campaign to deploy mobile, adaptive counter-drone defenses across the United States. The certification demonstrates growing readiness to counter evolving small-drone threats and strengthens the command’s capacity to protect key military facilities and critical homeland defense infrastructure.
