Turkey has secured its first export of armored, weaponized multi-purpose patrol boats to Southeast Asia, agreeing to deliver two vessels to a regional customer.

The program will be carried out through a partnership between Bay Galata and Kraken Marine Industries, operating under a joint commercial structure.

The transaction adds to Turkey’s growing defense export record, which has surpassed $10 billion across aerospace, land, and naval platforms. Turkish naval manufacturers have broadened their international footprint with exports that include corvettes, patrol ships, unmanned maritime systems, and advanced combat technologies.

Bay Galata’s offerings feature its TUZOQ counter-UAS suite, anti-drone munitions, ISR and targeting systems, and armored vehicle solutions. Kraken Marine Industries concentrates on military vessel design, marine systems integration, and fast-attack craft, including the K3 Scout, K4 Manta, and K5 Kraken models.

Expanding Regional Opportunities

As a NATO member, Turkey views the sale as proof of the viability of its domestically developed systems as affordable alternatives in a sector largely controlled by Western suppliers. The packages also include options for training, long-term support, and possible localization arrangements.

Authorities believe the agreement could pave the way for further naval contracts in Southeast Asia, where heightened maritime security challenges — including piracy, smuggling, and illegal fishing — are fueling demand for modern patrol capabilities.
