German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall has clinched a deal to provide Seasnake 30 close-in naval gun systems for Sweden’s Combat Boat 90 fleet.
Valued at €63 million, the initial order includes eight units plus airburst and training ammunition, spare parts, and related services. The agreement allows for up to 29 additional systems, with deliveries starting in early 2028.
The Seasnake 30 integrates cameras, infrared sensors, and a laser rangefinder to enable automatic detection and engagement of multiple targets. Its high-rate revolver cannon fires 30mm rounds at 1,100 rounds per minute.
The contract represents the first NATO acquisition of the platform. Sweden plans to use the guns in an anti-aircraft role to protect amphibious units, working alongside Spexer 2000 naval radars.
