The German Navy has selected Fassmer to construct four new training vessels as part of its fleet development plans.

The procurement is tied to the Sea-Based Training and Sea Trials (modified) initiative, with the first delivery targeted for late 2028.

Designed as instructional platforms, the vessels will support survival training at sea and foundational nautical coursework, equipping sailors with key maritime skills including navigation, seamanship, ship maneuvering, stability management, and onboard safety.

Fassmer earlier delivered two comparable training boats to WTD 71, and the latest contract reflects continued endorsement of the design’s effectiveness in operational service.
