Babcock International Group has extended its contract with the Royal Air Force to continue delivering services under the Light Aircraft Flying Task (LAFT) program. The four-year extension ensures the continued provision of critical training support, giving air personnel access to secure and well-established flying courses.
The agreement covers more than pilot training, including asset management, technical support, fire and rescue services, air traffic control, and aircraft supply across 13 sites throughout the UK.
LAFT facilitates up to 31,500 flight hours per day, supporting a wide range of activities such as the University Air Squadron volunteer reserve scheme, basic and advanced flight training, and flight experience programs for personnel across the British Armed Forces and international partners.
Since its inception, the program has logged over 750,000 flight hours over a 20-year period. According to Babcock, the contract extension underscores its long-term collaboration with the Royal Air Force, balancing operational continuity with the flexibility to meet changing training requirements.
