Lockheed Martin has formalized Fujitsu Limited as a production partner for a key component of the SPY-7 radar antenna destined for Japan’s Aegis System Equipped Vessels (ASEV).

The agreement was cemented with the issuance of the first purchase order for the SPY-7 Subarray Suite Power Supply Line Replaceable Unit (PS LRU), clearing the way for Fujitsu to launch full-scale manufacturing. The contract follows a May 2025 memorandum of understanding that designated Fujitsu as the approved supplier of the PS LRU.

Company officials stated that the collaboration bolsters Japan’s defense-industrial base and strengthens supply chain security in response to evolving Indo-Pacific threats.

The SPY-7 features a solid-state design with sophisticated tracking and engagement capabilities, enabling it to address multiple simultaneous threats, from ballistic and anti-air weapons to emerging hypersonic systems. It is also engineered to differentiate between actual threats and countermeasures.

Thanks to its scalable, modular configuration, the radar can be deployed on a range of warships, including Japan’s ASEVs, Canada’s River-class destroyers, and Spain’s F-110 frigates.
