Leonardo has debuted its Lionfish 30 naval weapon system — an AI-powered, remotely controlled turret designed to enhance the Italian Navy’s modernization drive with advanced precision and automation.
The system employs Leonardo’s ITAR-free X-GUN, an electric dual-feed cannon chambered in 30×173mm and capable of holding over 200 ready-to-fire rounds. It accommodates the entire 30mm ammunition family, including airburst types being jointly developed with KNDS.
Fitted with the JANUS-D electro-optical suite, the Lionfish 30 combines visible and infrared imaging with a laser rangefinder, enabling target detection and engagement at distances reaching 10 kilometers.
