BAE Systems Hägglunds has teamed up with Knightec Group Brazil to launch production of military vehicle components in Resende, Rio de Janeiro.

The partnership begins with a pilot program supporting the BvS10, initially focusing on the design and manufacturing of gear housings aimed at improving performance while lowering costs.

The BvS10 platform is widely used by multiple nations, including Sweden, Germany, the UK, Austria, France, and the Netherlands, with more than 1,200 units in service globally and over 650 additional vehicles on order, including from the US.

Through the initiative, both companies will emphasize technology transfer, leveraging Knightec’s automotive engineering capabilities to strengthen BAE Systems’ supply chain and support increased production capacity. This groundwork is expected to help meet rising global demand and enable future development of more advanced vehicle designs.

BAE Systems noted that the collaboration builds on its longstanding relationship with Knightec—recently formed through a merger with Semcon—and expands their cooperation into South America. The effort is further supported by BAE’s long-standing presence in Brazil, where it has supplied platforms such as M113 and M109 vehicles, Hawker Siddeley C-91 aircraft, the NAM Atlântico carrier, and Amazonas-class patrol vessels.
