Asio Technologies has finalized a new-generation version of its Taurus battle management system for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

Referred to as Noam by the IDF, the Taurus system delivers tactical intelligence and real-time 3D mapping, giving field commanders a comprehensive visual understanding of the battlespace. This capability allows for more precise mission planning and execution in both attack and defense operations.

The upgrade, developed in partnership with the Israeli Ministry of Defense’s DDR&D and the IDF Intelligence Directorate, will soon be rolled out to hundreds of battalion intelligence units. The platform supports on-the-ground mission planning, combining drone and sensor data to produce autonomous terrain analysis and operational plans without reliance on centralized command posts.

Taurus is also capable of synchronizing with Orion mission-management networks, ensuring that units across all echelons — from squad to brigade — share a unified, continuously updated operational picture.

Digital Transformation of Israel’s Combat Network
The deployment of Taurus underscores Israel’s shift toward digitally networked warfare, integrating intelligence, communications, and command systems across its military. As part of this modernization, Elbit Systems received a $130-million contract in 2024 to equip the IDF with next-generation tactical communication systems, enhancing connectivity across the ground forces.

Complementing this, the C4I and Cyber Defense Directorate is fielding mobile command centers and secure data nodes to ensure resilient communications under GPS- or signal-denied conditions. Meanwhile, the IDF is adopting augmented reality headgear for infantry and armor units, overlaying live sensor data and digital mapping to heighten awareness and decision-making in complex environments.
