At ST Engineering’s Benoi Shipyard, the Republic of Singapore Navy has launched its first Victory-class Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV), the RSS Victory (88) — the lead ship in a new fleet of six advanced warships.
Following its launch, the vessel will undergo final outfitting, system integration, and acceptance testing, alongside crew readiness training.
The new MRCV brings frigate-like combat performance and acts as a command platform for unmanned air, surface, and underwater assets. It replaces the earlier Victory-class corvettes, keeping their names and pennant numbers to preserve naval heritage.
ST Engineering, awarded the build contract in March 2023, will deliver all six ships — Victory, Valour, Vigilance, Valiant, Vigour, and Vengeance — under the oversight of DSTA, DSO, and the Defence Technology Community.
Measuring 150 meters long and 21 meters wide, and displacing 8,000 tonnes, the MRCV is Singapore’s largest and most technologically complex naval platform. It boasts a range exceeding 7,000 nautical miles, endurance over 21 days, and top speeds above 22 knots.
Key systems include DSTA’s combat management suite, Thales radars, Safran electro-optics, and an array of weapons — notably the STRALES 76mm gun, MK30-C remote weapon systems, and Aster and Mica VL missiles.
Manned by fewer than 100 sailors, the ship leverages advanced automation for optimized operations. Its modular design supports up to eight mission containers, enabling flexible deployment for combat, logistics, or humanitarian roles.
With its electric power distribution network and lightweight composite superstructure, the MRCV is built to accommodate future power-intensive technologies and mission upgrades.
