Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has introduced the LAHAT ALPHA, an advanced evolution of its Laser-Homing Anti-Tank missile line, designed to engage targets at over 20 kilometers (12 miles).
Weighing 25 kilograms (55 pounds) and measuring 2 meters (6.5 feet), the system carries a powerful warhead suited for defeating armored vehicles, fortified structures, coastal defenses, and mobile threats. The missile supports stand-off strikes and can be deployed from helicopters or land platforms, relying on laser target designation from ground or air assets.
IAI notes that laser-homing guidance enables the system to perform effectively in environments without GPS, while operators can be trained to use it in under a week.
The LAHAT ALPHA launch aligns with a broader shift toward smart, precision-strike weaponry that delivers high lethality from extended ranges. Similar weapons — including Rafael’s Spike NLOS and Lockheed Martin’s JAGM — reflect increasing demand for flexible, affordable, and network-integrated missile solutions.
