A £279-million ($373-million) deal has been signed in the UK to construct a specialized base for the army’s cyber regiment.

The development at Duke of Gloucester Barracks in Gloucestershire will host 13 Signal Regiment and provide a Cyber, Information and Security Operations Centre, alongside technical facilities, training areas, and modern personnel accommodation.

Bovis, a British construction firm, won the contract through the Defence Infrastructure Organisation. The project will create 92 jobs, including positions for former service members and 32 apprentices. Construction is scheduled to start in summer 2027, with completion expected by spring 2030.

The project includes 248 single-person living spaces, 30 new service family homes, and refurbishment of existing accommodations. Approximately 25% of funds will be spent locally, with another quarter allocated to small and medium enterprises.

This initiative complements the UK MoD’s recent cyber and communications modernization programs, including BAE Systems’ Trinity Wide Area Network for frontline connectivity and QinetiQ’s extensions for secure geospatial intelligence and integrated cyber operations.
