An undisclosed Asia-Pacific customer has placed an order for Red Cat Holdings’ Black Widow small unmanned aircraft system, the company announced. Delivery of an unspecified quantity of systems is scheduled for completion within the year.
Each configuration includes two Black Widow drones, a ground control station, and additional mission-related equipment. Red Cat stated that this represents the second military order for the Black Widow from customers in the Asia-Pacific region in recent months.
The Black Widow is optimized for tactical ISR missions and is built around a compact, durable airframe designed to operate in harsh environments. The system incorporates secure, military-grade communications to support operational use.
Weighing approximately 4.26 pounds, the UAV reaches speeds of up to 47 kilometers per hour and provides more than 50 minutes of endurance. With an operational range of roughly 8 kilometers, the Black Widow supports short- to medium-range reconnaissance missions. The platform can also be equipped with Reveal Farsight 3D mapping software, enabling in-flight generation of detailed 3D terrain models, as well as target identification and classification capabilities.
