Pilatus Aircraft has selected Thales Group to supply an advanced radio management system for its PC-7 training aircraft operating in Europe.

The system was jointly developed by teams from both companies to meet the specific requirements of the PC-7 platform. It is capable of adapting to multiple operational scenarios, from basic flight training to more complex tactical missions, while integrating with a variety of onboard systems.

Designed for resilience in challenging environments, the solution ensures reliable and uninterrupted communications. The selection also highlights Thales’ strengthened position in secure communications following its 2024 acquisition of Cobham Aerospace Communications.

The PC-7, first introduced in the late 1970s, has since evolved into the next-generation PC-7 MKX, launched in 2021. The upgraded version features a modern cockpit that mirrors contemporary combat aircraft, complete with digital avionics, a head-up display, and a fully integrated training system linking aircraft, simulators, and ground-based tools.

Equipped with a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-25C producing 700 horsepower, the aircraft can reach a maximum speed of 555 km/h and operate up to 25,000 feet. The PC-7 platform is currently used or set to be delivered to multiple European operators, including France, Netherlands, and Switzerland.
