Through its subsidiary e-phors, Fincantieri has entered into a contract with the Italian Navy to upgrade the cyber defense and resilience of naval units. The initiative will deploy an integrated cyber monitoring and protection system across vessels, enabling real-time detection and response to threats targeting shipboard management networks and improving overall mission security.
Designed specifically for the digital architecture of military ships, e-phors’ solutions provide crews with operational tools for cyber situational awareness and tactical response. The new integration strengthens platform-level protection and supports the Navy’s long-term cyber modernization strategy, which has already been introduced on Bergamini-class frigates.
The agreement is part of Fincantieri’s wider collaboration with the Italian Navy, focused on fleet renewal and capability enhancement. This month, the company launched the Navy’s new hydro-oceanographic vessel Quirinale at its Riva Trigoso facility, a ship dedicated to seabed mapping and scientific observation in support of the Italian Hydrographic Institute.
In parallel, Fincantieri is advancing several major programs, including a multi-role supply vessel optimized for underwater and specialized operations under its Underwater Technology Hub, announced in December 2025. Earlier in 2025, it also secured a contract for two additional PPA multipurpose combat ships, overseen by OCCAR, with Fincantieri as prime contractor and Leonardo as industrial partner. The vessels will be delivered in the “light plus” configuration in 2029 and 2030.
